The NGS Macmillan Wellbeing Centre is at Southmead Hospital in the North Bristol Trust. The centre is there to help anyone who is affected by cancer, whether you have just been diagnosed, are in the middle of or have finished treatment, or you are a family, friend or carer of someone with cancer. They offer face to face sessions, and a range of different activities that will help any person’s individual needs.
This centre is also a hub for the Recovery Package, which enables people living with cancer to take a more active role in their care. It gives people the right information and support at the right time, and the confidence that they need to manage their health.
Zarah Pearce, who works in the Bristol Hub, nominated this amazing local charity to receive a £500 donation.
“Various Cancer charities have always been something that I am keen to help raise money for and I know, first hand, how much Cancer affects many different people. Macmillan do such a wonderful job and are always there, providing resources, help and support to both patients and their loved ones at a really difficult time. There are many happy stories that come from survivors and their families but, unfortunately, also sad stories where people have lost their loved ones. Beaufort House at Southmead Hospital in Bristol are a Macmillan Wellbeing Centre providing excellent care to patients plus their loved ones too, more recently this has been even more personal to me as they have been taking care of a close friend of mine.”
